To My Spiritual Family of Holy Redeemer and St. Anthony, Eucharistic Revival Continues: God is good! All the time! Only he knows what tremendous graces flowed down from heaven during last weekend’s Eucharistic Revival Day, but we can imagine that those graces were both meaningful and manifold. It was wonderful to have so many people praying and adoring before our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. I especially want to give a shout out to the Knights of Columbus who manned the overnight hours. Now, and moving forward, we want to keep the Eucharistic Revival rolling. How? Mass - every Sunday - please. Prayer before the tabernacle as often as possible. Jesus really is the “pearl of great price (Mt 13:45-46).” His gift of the Eucharist is ineffable and beyond value. We don’t want to let the Eucharistic grains of gold slip between our fingers because of apathy or indifference. To be a Eucharistic people, we must make a commitment. To be a Eucharistic parish, we must be intentional about it. Let’s do so! Christ will bless us richly if we put him at the very center and heart of our lives! Mission Sunday: It’s rightly been said that the Church doesn’t have a mission, rather the Church is a mission. That mission is to “Make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit(Mt 28:19).” On this Worldwide Mission Sunday, we think of the countless men and women through the centuries who have brought the name of Jesus to a world starving for truth, goodness, and beauty. The work continues. Please remember that it is your work as well as mine. Each one of us is called to evangelize. Each one of us has the privilege and responsibility to tell others of Christ’s love. As St. Peter wrote in his 1st Letter: “Always be prepared to make a defense to any one who calls you to account for the hope that is in you (1 Pt 3:15).” In practical terms, we should have a pre-prepared, 1-minute explanation ready to give to anyone who asks us about our faith or our Church. This is called: “Giving witness.” Just as a defense lawyer may call a witness to the stand in court, so you or I may be called to be a witness in defense of Jesus and his Church. Let’s be ready! Please don’t assume someone else will tell others about Christ. Indeed, you or I may be the one who sets a previously lost soul on the way to a life of righteousness and salvation. What a cause for joy! So be ready! If the opportunity arises in Tops or Walmart or CVS – give your 1-minute defense! Adult Faith Formation: There are a whole bunch of folks in our community that are hungry for Christ and hungry for knowledge of his teachings. How can I say this with certainty? Because our Warren Catholic Community adult formation program is on fire! Seriously! Whether it’s a movie matinee with Jennifer or a bible study or those inquiring about becoming Catholic, we are really thriving with adult formation. Praise God! In response to this, we have hired Toby Miller to head our Adult Faith Formation team. During the past several years, Toby has been tireless in leading many of our bible studies and faith enrichment opportunities. His work has so impressed, that we thought it only right in justice to compensate him for his time and effort. Thank you, Toby, for agreeing to be a part of our team! If you have not availed yourself of one of these adult formation offerings, I encourage you to do so. More are definitely in the pipeline! Have a beautiful week! May God bless you abundantly! Mary, Mother of the Holy Redeemer – Pray for us! St. Anthony – Pray for us! St. Joseph – Pray for us! Fr. Steve
